Maximize your Body!
Massage is an excellent way to keep in touch with your body and improve muscle recovery and condition. Every person and

the effects each type of sport has on the body is different! We have an array of techniques that are best utilized through different periods in your training/racing/playing schedule depending on the needs of your particular sport and You. To get the most out of massage here are a few things you should know:
Massage is most beneficial if done on a regular basis - regular basis means at LEAST once a month. Massage helps your muscles recover faster which means you can train harder/quicker. When done in conjunction with training ideally you would want to get a massage just after your hardest efforts. Coming in to start off your rest periods will do wonders.
Injury Prevention - there are

many components to injury prevention of course - proper hydration and nutrition, getting in your rest periods at regular intervals, maintaining flexibility and strength. Massage helps with injury prevention by Helping to reduce the cumulative fatigue your muscles get over time by maximizing your recovery. It also can help address muscle imbalances as the increase in training brings them out and help minor injuries be both recognized and treated before they become a plague! We know that you all want to push yourselves to improve - but a minor hyper-tonicity that you continually push through forces your muscle to function improperly, creating muscle imbalances that can lead to more serious pain or injury.
What is Symmetry Thai Sports Massage?
Symmetry Thai/Sports Massage is the creation of Celeste and Kina, developed through years of experience working closely with athletes. It is a unique combination of Thai Yoga massage, Advanced Sports massage techniques, and (most importantly) the expert approach of our therapists. Any activity you do is the result of more than just the obvious muscle groups, it is a whole body, whole being effort. Our approach keeps in mind the entire person, to maximize the results. We use a combination of passive stretching, range of motion, and myofacial techniques, in a rhythmic tempo help improve overall body recovery and increase athletic performance.
So what are the benefits?
Recovery, Recovery, Recovery! Thai sports massage helps the body to recover from hard or extreme athletic efforts. Muscle flushing, stretches, compression and passive dynamic movements help to improve circulation, decrease muscle soreness, increase range of motion in joints, and improve overall muscle performance. By recovering faster you are able to train harder at a quicker pace and with less cumulative fatigue.
Balance... the incorporation of thai massage techniques helps to bring the whole body into a state of balance, with an emphasis on restoring energy flow and address muscle imbalances.
Injury Prevention... using a series of passive and active stretches the muscles and joints become fluid and lengthened allowing them to function at their optimal performance, helping to decrease strain and stress on joints and muscles.
Mental focus...the rhythmic compression and integrating flow used by the therapist helps to induce a state of well-being in the body bringing the mind back into a clear mental state.
Help us Help YOU
To best treat your individual needs, it is imperative to keep your therapist up to date on your training/workout schedule. We need to know what you've done and what you plan to do with your week when you come in for your appointments.

If you aren't able to coordinate a massage with your rest periods that doesn't mean you cant or shouldn't get a massage. They are still beneficial to your performance and maintenance. However, the type of massage you get will vary greatly depending on what your plans are. If you have a race or event in the next few days after a massage it will be a very different approach to the session than if you just got done with one.
As therapists we need to know how your body has been feeling and whether you have any current injuries. Feedback after a session is also very important!
Each one of your bodies and situations are unique and keeping us informed on how you responded to your treatments only helps us learn your individual body better. Honest feedback means we can give you the sessions that are Most beneficial to you.
We keep detailed therapy notes so even if you see a different therapist we can still address you with that knowledge. Don't be afraid to tell us - You wont hurt our feelings! We want to help and support you and being honest and open allows us to do that.
